Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT has made it part of their mission to challenge the stigma around mental illness and addiction. Rather than treating mental health patients with disassociation and dehumanization, Silver Hill aims to make their patients feel at home while in treatment. Not only is their humanizing approach more respectful, it is also incredibly successful with over 70% of their discharged patients remaining drug free a year after leaving the facility.
