Aden Batar is a Muslim from Somalia who has become an American citizen after being granted asylum in the United States. Now, he works as the Immigration and Refugee Resettlement Director at Catholic Community Services of Utah in Salt Lake City. In this episode of the Visionaries we look closely at the impact he and his story have had on the work this organization has accomplished in the Salt Lake community. Holy Cross Ministries is an affiliate of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC). Their mission is to work towards federal immigration reform while also helping undocumented victims of sexual assault, human trafficking, and domestic violence to seek justice and support. In what may seem like an unlikely place to make a home to foreign neighbors, these members of the Salt Lake community are making valiant strides to making their city a place where everybody is welcome, no matter where they come from.
